The New York Giants Already Thin at Wide Receiver

It isn’t even three training camps in for the New York Giants and they are already thin at the wide receiver position. Sterling Shepard is out week-to-week with a thumb injury. He is supposed to be the top wide receiver on the roster and they traded away Odell Beckham Jr. away to the Cleveland Browns during the offseason.

Corey Coleman tore his ACL during training camp on Thursday and he is out for the season. Coleman was getting another chance with this team.

As of right now. Golden Tate is the number one wide receiver. After that, it is going to be interesting to see what happens. Cody Latimer, rookie Darius Slayton, Russell Shepard, Alonzo Russell, Brittan Golden, Da’Mari Scott, and rookie Reggie White Jr. are the other wide receivers currently on the roster right now.

That isn’t exactly the brightest wide receiving core on this planet. It could be one of the worst receiving crops in the NFL. The first preseason game hasn’t even happened yet and they might already be thinking about drafting a wide receiver in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Some of the players that New York might be able to grab is Jerry Jeudy from Alabama, CeeDee Lamb from Oklahoma, Collin Johnson from Texas, Laviska Shenault Jr. from Colorado, Tyler Johnson from Minnesota, and Tee Higgins from Clemson.

As of right now, should the Giants sign Dez Bryant or somebody else to a 1-year deal? I don’t know if it will matter to be honest. New York might very well be one of the worst teams in the NFL this season. They could be anywhere from 3-13 to 9-7 at best.

Eli Manning will most likely start once again at the quarterback position this season. Rookie Daniel Jones will most likely be the backup and learn until he is ready to play. It is going to be a process for him and it probably wouldn’t be a good idea for him to start right away unless Jones tears it up in training camp and preseason games.

He won’t have the quality wide receivers to work with and neither will Eli Manning. They do have Evan Engram at the tight end position and he might be relied upon a lot this season along with Rhett Ellison.

It is going to be really interesting at this position for the entire season. They will miss the flashiness of Odell Beckham Jr., but this team is currently rebuilding.
